My name is Danielle Lloyd. I am a Breast Cancer Survivor. Praise the Lord! In April 2017, I went for a Mammogram that warranted an Ultrasound due to changes in my breast and strong family history. The results were Fibrocystic Disease and dense breast tissue. I was told I needed to be rechecked in six months. My GYN called to advise that she wanted me to have a biopsy done on both breasts. The Radiologist said, “I did not see anything to biopsy from the Mammogram or Ultrasound.” My GYN did not give up and sent me to a Surgeon. The Surgeon ordered an MRI that showed a nodule in my left breast that blended with adjacent breast tissue and close to my chest wall. I was scheduled for a Lumpectomy a week later. I had to have an MRI Guided Breast Wire Localization before surgery for my Surgeon to be able to find the nodule. Four days after surgery, my Surgeon called to tell me the results came back as cancer. I could not believe what I was hearing. I had so many emotions, but knew that God is the Ultimate Healer and He was going to be with me every step. My faith was shaken and fear tried to come into my innermost being. I prayed for strength and healing and relied on God’s Word; especially, the verses from Isaiah 41:10 & 13. I knew if I could just have faith as big as a mustard seed, as it says in God’s Word, that I would be able to get through this. Two days later, I had two Sentinel Nodes removed. The cancer had not moved to my Lymph Nodes. I then saw my Oncologist that sent the nodule off for an Oncotype Test Score. This score predicts the likelihood of chemotherapy benefit. My score came back at 8% likelihood of recurrence in fifteen years. I was told I would not need chemo, but I would need radiation and would be put on Tamoxifen for ten years. Six weeks later, I started twenty-four rounds of radiation with the first eight through AccuBoost.
Early detection is so important! If you have dense breasts, please ask your doctor for an MRI. Exodus 14:14; Matthew 21:22; 2 Corinthians 10:4; Psalms 118:17.
